Gary Thompson

Gary trained initally as an engineer in the Royal Navy before studying Naval Architecture at the University of Southampton. During this time he made his first website, in 1994, and has been writing code since. Gary's full-time job now is working at the University of St Andrews as Careers Adviser & IT Manager. Sushiguru is a freelance project. Our list of current sites and projects can be viewed in the portfolio list in the main menu.

Lesley Thompson

Lesley studied Acoustics and Music at the University of Southampton, followed by a MSc in Information Systems at Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen. Lesley has worked in business consultancies in Edinburgh, for a range of clients.

We're often asked where the name comes from. It really does have nothing to do with raw fish; it was created as a unique online username, and is a combination of two names: Sushi was the name of a MUD that Gary played on as a student, and Guru, his playing character. For those of you who don't know, MUDs are a great way to learn how to code in an OO, c-based language, and better than telly as a means of procrastination...
